Southern Flinders Rough Riders' Riding Programme

SFRRRRR!! - a bit like CNNNNN but with even more dirt!

There is so much more out there now and we are pioneering in new tracks all the time so come along and join us for a ride! The last meeting we discussed a few options and we are going to try and have a monthly event whether that is a race or a BBQ and billy tea.

OK - last ride for a while (not forgetting that there are regular dawnbusters and night rides so just check with us at OTE on 8666 2222). Remember, all rides leave from OTE unless otherwise advised. Of course, things don't always go to plan but as Mr Curly found there is much to be said about the tyranny of the uninevitable..

the weather is cooling nicely and daylight saving is over. Give us a call if you're coming up and want to ride, we leave most mornings around 7am for a quickie.

Rides Programme:.

Now we have daylight saving we are doing a shop ride Wed and Sat afternoon at 6pm and as always there are morning rides at 6.30am.. no really, in the heat, it is worth getting up for!

and we have a calendar of events that is worth perusing too..

For after the ride.. coffee, wine, a good lie down.. a lighter bike?

We have comfy chairs and couches sitting in our shop so come by to recline, have a coffee after your ride and check out the collection of dead moths in our glass cabinet - right next to the super plush and reliable Magura Forks and Syntace Vector Bars, and Chris King headsets and BB's..

Spot Brand belt drive (Carbon Drive System - CDS) here now too - silent and great for those that like rubber and never luber.. and the new 2009 Santa Cruz Blur LT and Pivot Mach 5 . Never a dull moment at OTE. Come and ride with us!

Bartagunyah and Over The Edge collaborative Shiraz/Cabernet coming soon.. and a signature beer made using local hops (Dodonea viscosa angustissima) which were used here by Jackas before the hops were available from Tas so the story goes. Should be interesting and hopefully not too poisonous.. there are saponins for those allergic to these..apparently other stuff in there too that is quite pleasant if not a little unnerving..

Billy the Scot, Nick B, Rich, Al, DJ and Quentin (OTE Hurricane) checking out the Mitcham trails

Vera and Irina with us in our tent before she became World Champ 2009.

Mountain Bike Code of Practice

This stuff below is important - "respect" and we'll all have a good time

  • Plan your ride
  • Obey "no bicycle' signs
  • Ride only on formed trails designated for cycling
  • Do not take short cuts or form new trails
  • Share the trail
  • Respect the rights of others
  • Avoid riding in wet, muddy conditions
  • Ride lightly and leave no trace or rubbish
  • Control your bike
  • Don't disturb plants and animals
  • Clean your bike, don't spread weeds or plant diseases
  • Tell other people about this code

Keep trails open by setting a good example of environmentally sound and socially responsible mountain biking.

Weather

Check out the weather forecast, there might be perfect riding conditions this weekend!

Melrose in September from "Blazing Saddles" track with bright yellow canola fields in the distance.

Same position on lookout of Blazing Saddles in the morning of a 46C day. Bec n Tim from Melbourne soldiered on from the Tour to drink some wine and lose some skin around Melrose - all good fun. Rich in our pretty blue OTE Oz jersey.
