100% FAT - MELROSE FAT TYRE FESTIVAL - THE SUBLIME NINE
FRI 10– MONDAY 13 JUNE 2011

MTB MADNESS IN MELROSE

Well, THE RACE FACE SUPER 8 was a biggie. Troy, the originator of the FTF concept, left his mark with some well timed stage dives (thanks to the Catchers!) and his running of the Clunker Crit was brilliant. The main street proved to be a great venue. And how awesome were Sweet Baby James and Rob Eyers, these guys were fantastic! There are some crazy pics going around on facebook. Thanks to Chris and Mick from AMB Mag (special mention must go to Chris for his rendition of "Angel Seamen" by Wolfgang VDS) and thanks to them and all the other industry folk for coming aka Monza, Dirtworks, Niteflux, Craftworks, and EscapeGoat, and other sponsors like SATC, BYK, ergon, squirt, knolly, Bartagunyah Estate Wines, North Star, Mt Remarkable Hotel, Bluey Blundstones, Glenrest Camper Trailers and Shimano.

So, if you liked the SUPER 8 (or couldn't make it), then don't miss the SUBLIME NINE, ask a friend or someone who went to see what it is all about.

The SUPER 8 rides matrix and ride options summary here too for whetting of appetites.

WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE - Melrose Sat March 13th 7.30am

Peacefully expose the vulnerability of cyclists, humanity and nature in the face of cars, aggression, consumerism and non-renewable energy.

Meet at OTE at 7.30am and head to Sleepy Hollow Gazebo to remove clothing. Buzz along a path up FFFT and up on to Throwing Copper and along Blazing Saddles to Bald Hill lookout for a group Pic (artfully done to preserve dignity as required) and then down the other side into Hidden Valley to Big Rhua back down Bear Pit to Weaving Camels and back to our clothes and normal lives.. coffee at OTE afterwards. Dates not set next year yet but click here for more info, or on the pic or go direct to WNBR.

Not a big turnout.. but a beautiful day and very liberating! Bound to be more next year after Adelaide's problems with astinomia. The video on Rich's helmet cam was interesting too..

2011 OUTBACK ODYSSEY - ADELAIDE TO BLINMAN
SATURDAY 7 - SATURDAY 21st May 2011 (Dates could change)

Each day is an adventure. We ride. We eat. We drink. We have a laugh.

Then we get up in the morning and do it all over again!

Some days are hard, but the campsite is your home away from home - hot showers, massage and the Handle Bar, where you can put your feet up and enjoy a coldie and good company.

Then the sun dips. The stars come out... and the Mawson Man comes out to play! and the Wilkins Woman now too.. One thing you can say about this ride. Everyone just has the best time. Find someone that has done the Odyssey (many have done it over and over again) and they will fill you in. I am not sure Odysseus enjoyed all of his Odyssey (though the time spent with Circe probably wasn't all bad) but while this one has its fair share of Sirens and a few bodies get battered along the way, this journey is one of the richest experiences on fair Gaia that could well be penned in Homeric verse.

AND there's plenty of options to fit how long you have...

· Full Mawson: Adelaide - Blinman - 15 days :

· Mawson 1: Adelaide to Burra - 5 days :

· Mini Mawson 2: Burra to Melrose - 6 days :

· Mini Mawson 3: Melrose to Blinman - 6 days :

Numbers strictly limited to 200. Registrations will commence later this year.
Details will be posted online and in the BicycleSA's 2010 Go magazine due for release in October.

THE ADELAIDE MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB'S MELROSE ENDURO RACE

SUN 18th JULY 2010

Some cool changes for 2010. OTE have been working with ADL MTB club and the current concept is looking like an endurance race taking looping through the singetrack of Melrose. Plenty of sketchy off-camber singletrack, rocks, and logs and kangaroos to dodge, mount and flow over.. Watch this space for updates. Should be a whole lot of fun - come early and get in some practice runs - this is the last Sun of the school hols.

See Geoff here on Stegosaurus on Bartagunyah making it look easy. A lot of fun (see video for a preview of the Bartagunyah tracks). Watch out for the "path of the bleating goat"..

THE MOVEMBER CHARITY RIDE: PT AUGUSTA TO MELROSE 7AM SUN 30TH 2010

Departs from Avanti Plus (52 Victoria Parade), Pt Augusta. Come along and we'll paint on a mo if you don't have one. All bikes welcome. Rich and Al doing it on a tandem and Sam Cowley is on his mountain bike so don't be afraid, it will be a long line.. Wear crazy stuff too but keep it cool so unfortunately no kilts but lap-laps will be fine though not sure if they come with much of a chamois. Finish at OTE for a BBQ and some wind down drinks..

Sarah Holmes - Aust ergon/squirt champion. This is the view of her ergon racing knicks disappearing into the distance that her competitors will just have to get used to. Ride Like a girl!

Fancy a DIRTY WEEKEND? 8-9 MAY 2010 CUDLEE CK ADELAIDE.

The secret ingredient - one small lick of the fly agaric mushroom just prior to racing. A hell of a lot safer than red bull! Just ask Phoebe!
